Bioinformatics Workshop

The NGIA offers hands-on bioinformatics workshops aimed at building foundational and advanced skills in computational biology and omics data analysis for our researchers. These in person workshops are designed to be  interactive and focused on practical applications using real datasets.

Bulk RNA Sequencing In Galaxy

This session introduces users to the Galaxy platform for processing bulk RNA-seq data. Participants learn how to perform quality control, alignment, and quantification using an accessible, web-based interface

Differential Gene Expression Analysis in R

This workshop teaches participants how to use R (including packages like DESeq2) to identify differentially expressed genes. The focus is on experimental design, normalization, visualization, and biological interpretation.

Introduction to R and Linux

A foundational session for those new to computational tools, this workshop covers essential R programming skills and basic Linux command-line navigation—key prerequisites for downstream bioinformatics workflows.

WGCNA Analysis in R

This advanced workshop guides users through Weighted Gene Co-expression Network Analysis (WGCNA) in R. Participants learn how to identify gene modules, correlate them with traits, and interpret network-based patterns in transcriptomic data.

Microbiome Data Analysis

Explore the fundamentals and applications of microbiome bioinformatics in this hands-on workshop. Learn key differences between 16S and shotgun sequencing, how to interpret outputs  and perform core analyses in R. Topics include alpha and beta diversity, PCA/NMDS ordination, differential abundance testing, and data-driven clustering.
